About the craftsman
Traveling across the U.S. in the mid 1990's, I found a home and my passion in Taos, New Mexico.
I had a short history with woodworking in the past, but never drew much inspiration to continue until I settled down in the Land of Enchantment.
Occasionally walking into a furniture shop, I'd hunker down under whatever caught my eye, looking behind and underneath pieces of furniture to see how the artists made them. With colors and designs fresh in my mind, I would go home and give it a try.
I spent month after month inside a dark, dusty garage developing my skills until my work was finally good enough to catch the eye of Master Craftsman David Mapes. I quit my day job and spent the next two years sawing out southwestern style as his apprentice.
Eventually, the time came for me to make it on my own. It would take me another five years to begin South by Southwest. I hope you like what you see, and there's a lot more to come!
